B****Y BT

A couple of weeks ago, at work, I received two separate order confirmations from BT for installing some fancy new lines. Which I hadn't ordered, and nor had anyone else. Although the orders were in our company name, and for our street address.

I phoned up and asked what it was about, and they said they'd been placed by someone whose name was completely unfamiliar to me. So I said we haven't placed these orders, we don't want them, there's been a mistake. And the chap on the other end said OK, I'll look into it and cancel them.

We do have one BT line for our Broadband connection, and I made the mistake of asking him about porting a Telewest no. to that BT line. So he said he'd look into it and phone me back. When he did, he said that the contact no. given for the new lines was in a completely different city to ours, so he didn't know how that had happened but it was OK now.

Yesterday a small package arrived from BT which appeared to be instruction books for these new lines we haven't ordered. I was up to my eyes in other stuff and didn't have time to phone and ask if they were still planning to install some new lines we didn't want. Besides, knowing what the post is like these books could have been posted the same day as the order confirmations.

Today I'm having a day off, and a bit of a lie-in, when one of my colleagues phones to say "BT have arrived. Do you know why?"

I did wonder about writing to BT to confirm the cancellation, but before I do that and IF I hear any more about this or get sent a bill I am going to ask them to send me a copy of the order with a signature on it. Maybe I'm paranoid: I don't want them to have an example of my signature or see what our headed notepaper is like before I've seen what they've got!

Meanwhile I wonder if anyone is sitting in an office somewhere waiting for BT to arrive? ;D
Signature removed for peace of mind

BT just don't seem to want to take a hint. Last night I was doing my bit for family harmony - i.e. visiting my mother. She had been complaining for several weeks about the number of 'sales' calls she gets from BT and the fact that twice now they have switched her back to BT without her permission. The calls are really starting to annoy her - I told her to get them to take her of their lists, which she did, but they still keep callling.

Last night they phoned again, I picked up the call - and I was not in the best of moods either. The girl started into her usuall BS but I stopped her and really gave her a tirade of 4-letter abuse down the phone. She then has the cheek to say 'she does not have to take that sort of attitude and would be reporting it to her supervisor' - so she got another tirade of abuse until I managed to get her supervisor on the phone who I also gave a tirade of abuse to.

Suffice to say that the supervisor understands that our level of customer satisfaction with BT has reached new lows and she has promised to sort it out.

My mother was disgusted at me and gave off bucketfuls when I got off the phone. The problem is she had done the nicely-nicely approach which did not work. Hopefully I will be able to get back on her Christmas pressie list within the next couple of months
