No frills airline / general suggestions

I'm trying to book a 2 night holiday for my bf's birthday, somewhere hot in the sun.
I'd like to go to Nice, and am searching flights on lastminute.com. Ideally we need to fly from gatwick as we're in a hotel in brighton after a concert the night before; and the only airline thats flying is the 'no frills airline'.#
Does anyone know what they're like? are they really bad? I've only flown a few times, so i'm a little nervous and sceptical.
Any other suggestions of hot, short haul trips in may 14th-16th grateful appreciated. Trying to team up some cheap flights with cheap hotels (from the £2 thomson deal) its not really working for me.Ive spent hours on the computer searching.
Have a budget of around £350 (possibly slightly more if theres an exceptional feature, ie 5* or jacuzzi in room etc) and on beach please.
thanks in advance.

Brighton's not far from London. If you don't want a 'no frills' flight look at BA and Air France from LHR/London City Airport.0

thank you

I know its not far, but as we're only going for 2 nights, I wanted to depart very early, ie before 8am ideally; so we'd be getting up at about 3am to get there
I just thought gatwick would be quicker and easier .. 0 -
