Tell Orchid what your setup is when you phone to order (don't forget to mention the MSE discount code '3'). They'll then program your Orchid accordingly.

If you've changed to BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan or have Primus Saver Option 2 and have a 18185 account, the Heinz program will work unaltered.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Hi Heinz , once registered with 'Orchid' where once you press 'buy' do you put in MSE discount 3 in order for 20% discount? Also just a quick check whats the real difference between V4 & V4+?

    Thx

  • My dad had a phone call from bt offering the free evening & weekend calls, he suffers from hearing difficulties and was persuaded into agreeing into this contract. He has recieved the letter today and it says once you agree you cant go back on the contract you are stuck with it for 12 months,he wanted a different deal with bt but now faces charges for cancelling the agreement.Does anyone have any advice?

    There's a 7 day cooling off period:

Free UK1 Evening & Weekend calls

    9. Can I cancel the order if I change my mind?
You can cancel the order anytime up to 7 working days from the date when BT supplies you with the service. After 7 working days you will no longer be able to cancel.

The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

Yes, the code '3' is for the 20% discount.

The V4+ has a mains power supply as well - so the unit is powered by the mains and the telephone line. I am told you need the V4+ if you want to use Caller Display.

Welcome to the MSE forums lilconchita.

What different deal did/does he want?

He's now on the (free) Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan so the only upgrade available would be the £5.95/month Unlimited Anytime Plan. Does he make enough weekday daytime 01/02/03 calls to warrant paying that much?

Using 1899, 18185 or 18866, he could make 118 calls each month for less than £5.95.

I use a CPS calls provider as well but have programmed my Orchid to send weekend 01/02/03 calls via BT so as to ensure I get free Caller Display.
Could you carify how sending your weekend calls via BT ensures you get free Caller Display. I thought you needed to make a number (2 per month?) of "chargeable" calls to qualify and the free weekend calls would not count?
