Few months back I posted a thread about I've never had a bank account in the UK, thanks for you guys, I have a Halifax cashcard account now. And it's great.
However, I have a Visa Electron card, it's really annoying to use, as some place don't accept it. So I applied for citibank access account. And got accept it. My question now is what card do they offer? Visa debt? Or Visa electron? Mastro?
Many thanks.

Citibank UK issues either:
- a full Visa debit
or
- a full Visa debit with cheque guarantee facility for accounts with overdraft0 -
Great!! Looking forward to get my card0

Just phoned them up, and they declined my application.
I've sent in the form and the letter they requested. Also, I applied for the credit card, will that be the reason they decline me?
My situation is, I've been in the UK for 8 years and no credit card from the UK, no bank account from the UK til last September, basically no credit history in the UK. So do you think if I apply again without the credit they will accept me?0 -

I'm sorry to hear that Citibank have declined your application. If you have already got a bank account then have you tried asking your current bank to upgrade your account to a normal current account?
If you really need a Visa card then you may want to apply for an Aqua card, Capital One or Vanquis Card. If you still can't get a CC then get one of the prepaid cards (http://what-prepaid-card.co.uk/index.html).
Reapplying won't make much difference to their decision outcome unless you've estalished a good history in your credit report.0 -
Hi Maxsquared
What account with Citi Bank did you apply for? I understand there are two, one with just a card, the other one is a full account.

firstly the access account you get a full visa debit card you don't pay the £10 per month to use this account...
secondly the citibank plus account you get a full visa debit card with cheque gaurantee also a cheque book...+ other entitlements you pay £10 a month for this account...leave it 6 months then re-apply for the access account then if your accepted you will be able to build up your credit history once this is done after about 1 year I should think (not sure on that) then you will be able to apply for a credit card...
hope this helps....
Ice formerly computerwoman...and the new citibank club thread...both accounts are current accounts...:)

Hi Max
Just reading your first post on Citibank did they accept your application at first? You say ''got accept it? Wondering if they agree in principal, a bit like NatWest do?
