Template to avoid wheel clamp fee????
I've seen these advertised for £15, but is there anywhere I can get one for free? or does anyone have one to email me? I know I'm a tightwad, but it really irritated me to be clamped today. Thought I would take the train to london tomorrow rather than drive, so went to the station to get a ticket, got clamped for parking outside ( literally 5 minutes to buy the ticket.) There was a notice outside which I believe is legal- size, height etc, but the road apparently is a private rd, not owned by the rail company. i will buy the template if I have to though. Has anyone used one and got their money back?

So let me get this right.
You claim to be a tightwad yet you parked on private land you don't own, which could be construed as trespassing, and quite rightly got clamped?
Perhaps you should stop thinking you have a right to park where the hell you please just because someone hasn't put up a big steel fence patrolled by armed guards.
You claim to be irritated by being clamped but I guess being as selfish as you are that you didn't think for one second how irritated those who own the land are at people denying them the use of their property "just for 5 minutes whilst i pop and get a ticket". Obviously they're very irritated if they've gone to the length of employing the services of a PPC.0 -

Please don't feel intimidated by Conor's post. He's known for making pretty unhelpful/insulting comments and I have now reported him.
The best advice you'll get is on pepipoo.com! In order to help, can you please tell us whether the road was definitely private of not?0 -
The clamper if legit will possess a security licence.
Despite what Conor says, I believe clamping is nothing short of extortion.0 -
Obviously Conor cannot contribute anything contructive to say and has obviously nothing better with their time so he/she likes to wind people up. That said, just report them as it is folk like them that are going against the spirit of the MSE Forums. Martin has said top right; Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There is nothing is clever in being sarcastic; its just childish.
Now that is off my chest, what have you done to deserve this clamping? I thought that most railway stations are on land which is either managed by the local train operator or the owner, Network Rail. If you deliberately park your car there whilst you go off for the day, so be it you get fined. I thought that as long as you were not blocking anyone in or parking on a taxi rank or bus rank, you can park for a short time as long as you were on 'station business' which you obvioulsy were.0 -

Parked on land they had no right to park on.0 -
What you need is either: -
To let the tyre down as much as possible and try wrangle the clamp off if it looks possible.

Be aware this can be construed to be criminal damage and case law supports this so don't leave any evidence of the damage
Wheel clamping is extortion, you are unlikely to see your money back at all. Anything worth £15 will be floating around free on pepipoo anyway.0 -

thanks folks for your helpful comments, sorry Conor you obviously must have gout or something to make you so bad tempered, hope it gets better soon.
The station car park is being upgraded, so the few remaining spaces were reserved for taxi's. It wasn't private land in the meaning of "someones drive". It was a car park belonging to a DIY store which was next to the (out of service) station car park. There simply wasn't anywhere else to stop apart from double yellows outside the station. I think I would have been better parking there and taking a chance, but that was breaking the law. Now I know why British people are averse to public transport. I will check out the recommendedsite & let you know how I go on. I bet if I was a celebrity, I'd get away with it.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0 -
Let's all park over at Conor's and he can put everything into practice :rotfl:0
