Questions about standard E7 Meters

HI, ive just had this E7 meter fitted, ive switched from having E7 with an afternoon boost and have a couple questions that have arisen after having this new meter for a couple of nights.

1) my old E7 afternoon boost meter used to start charging the nite storage heaters at 1.30am until about 7.30, Then obviuosly another 2 hours in the afternoon..

this new meter starts charging at midnight until 8am, thats a longer charge and is burning more units therefore costing me more which was the whole point of coming of afternoon boost.

Do these meters have timer switches? So that i could call an engineer out and have them adjusted so that this new meter comes on at 1.30 till 7.30 like the old meter. The old meter was controled by radio waves and had no switches in, or so i was told by the engineers.

secondly this new meter is still reading british winter time. the clock has not advanced an hour. this actually means it is actually starting to charge heaters at 1am now im not sure what time they are going off tho as i missed it this morning. surely it should have auto corrected for BST by now ? what do i do about that?

cheers for any advice
mike

No they don't change when the clocks do.

So your cheap heating period is advanced by 1 hour during BST.
  • ive coincidently just collared a meter engineer who`d come to call upon a neighbour, he said the time will adjust eventually as its controlled by a signal thats sent out.

he also said that im stuck with my 7 hour charge on the night, hence why its called E7 so doesnt look like ill be really any better off than i was on my super tariff afternoon boost setup, doh!

    Hi,

They only update that way if they are radio teleswitch meters. If they are the older units, your Supplier can arrange a visit if it's incorrectly set up for any reason. They don't adjust them for BST though on the older ones as you still get the 7 hour charge overnight, just 1 hour forward/back.

Your meter is on for 8 hours from your post. Is it Economy 8? If it's definately E7, you need to get the timeswitch altered which will reduce it to 7hours off peak.

Sounds like your Supplier has misadvised you on the tariff. You could always have the other refitted.
