talk 3 loyalty credit - what is this about?

I was going to change from talk 3 to talk 2, but i see on my last 3 bills talk talk have given us a £5 loyalty credit:T, making it cheaper than talk 2. I can't seem to find out how long we'll get this for , or why we got it. Has anyone else had this? Will it last?
