I take the 'empties' back to Tesco - you just pick up a full one from the shelf and hand it (plus the empty) to the checkout assistant (at this point they'll look vague and have to call for help) - they just have to scan the 'credit' barcode of the empty and the 'debit' barcode of the full one (or vice-versa) and you pay £3.99.
ALSO - Tesco have just reduced the £11.99 versions to £5.99. I think this is the one you buy first, then it costs £3.99 per replacement, but the SA's are so unused to dealing with them that you could probably get away with buying the £3.99 bottle first-off.

I just did, have you seen the price of their new sodastreams? £99! for that ugly looking penguin thing, who would want that in their kitchen?

It's reduced to £59.98 at the moment. Mind you, if it's plastic like all the others it's very overpriced.

But it's so ugly! Who would want that thing in their kitchen? It would look totally out of place in my kitchen, especially as my kitchen thingys (slo-cooker, breadmaker, food processor & blender) are all white, it would just be awful. Don't expect a revival in Sodastreams if that's what they have on offer.:o

My OH was looking on SodaStream's website the other day because these have disappeared from our Tesco also ... their website implies that hardly any supermarkets are now keeping the cylinders. Sorry.

Does anyone own one of these? I was thinking of getting one for sparkling water, drinks for the kids, etc. Are they easy to clean?

I own one but its been sitting on a shelf for about a year, mainly just because I keep forgetting to get a refill. Very easy to clean, use with your normal drinks though as I think the soda stream syrups are a bit of a rip off.

I have an older style one on its last gas bottle.:( I will be replacing it with a new modern one. :j

I often make sparkling water to add to cordial for fizzy drinks. So much healthier than buying fizzy orange etc.

    Hi setmefree,

There's an earlier thread on using soda streams to make fizzy water that might help:

I'll add your question to that post later as it helps to keep the replies together.
