Work in travel, pays rubbish but you got some perks.
The best I have is a 2 week, Business Class trip, all hotels included, Bali for about £300.
2 x Business Class flights on Lufthansa London - Jakarta (free - won prize)
4 x Hotels all offering freebies for 2-4 nights (just after the bombs, so very keen for people to go out)
Ground handlers offering free transfers throughout.
I had to pay for taxes (about £75 pp at the time) and Jakarta - Bali flights (about £75 pp again) and most everything else was included.
What's better, I was going to take my mum who had never been to Asia (and we'd never been abroad together with her being a single mum) as a small thank you (my other half was not impressed!)
However, having confirmed all the dates, I then was offered a job in another company that was so good I had to accept. Unfortunately, it was time critical and started a couple of days before I was due to go, they wouldn't let me delay, so I had to let it all go. Very sad.
Have been back to Indonesia 3 times since, and go again next month, so that's all good, but nothing quite as good.0 -

Ooops - this may be my fault - the plan was to use it as a case study for It Pays To Watch and that'd be the winner too - but from memory we actually found someone from somewhere else... I'll take a look and find a winner next week.
Apologies

As a good five weeks have now passed, it's a good job I knew better than to hold my breath.

Sorry about this, it really was an oversight, this time my fault.
The champers goes to Voyager2000 who captured the exact spirit of what this was about and used loads of MoneySaving techniques to bag her holiday for less.

Just seen this thread and found that the prize has just been awarded today !
This year we went to New York for a six night break in June.
Our flights from Gatwick with Zoom airlines cost £250 ,we had some flight changes which resulted in us getting a free extra legroom upgrade for all flights (worth £120) .
Our hotel ,booked through Priceline, cost £336 for 6 nights at Sheraton Manhattan New York which would have cost £1230 ( Martin used this example in his E Mail ths week !)
We signed up for a free trial of the Entertainment book which allowed us to print off BOGOF coupons online for restaurants and attractions in New York.
We entered the Lotteries for Broadway show tickets and got Front Row tickets for :-Young Frankenstein,Hairspray and Wicked at a cost of £13 for each front row ticket. We also used tkts for other shows so never paid full price.
We took a Greyhound bus to Atlantic city (about 2 hours away from NYC).The bus fare was refunded by Ceasars Palace casino , where we signed for the players club and were given a free buffet dinner. We shrewdley gambled on 1c slots where we were given lots of free drinks (of course we tipped the cocktail waitress!) ,we gambled $10 and took home $11 and we had great fun in the meantime . We also hit the outlet mall in Atlantic city and saved £100's on clothes which were much cheaper than in NYC .
Maybe too late for the champers but thought I would share anyway.
regards
David0
