Gas transfer
Options
I was wondering if there are minimum ties with gas/elec companies? I signed up to scottishpower 6 months ago but now want to switch my gas to npower as it's cheaper but keep the electricity with scottishpower, is this possible/allowed?
Do i just sign up to npowers tariff for gas and that will be transfered? Or will it not be allowed because i haven't been with scottishpower for 12 months?
Thanks

Yes you can switch either (or both) fuels without contacting scottish power. Whoever you switch to will inform them you no longer want them for your gas.
Bear in mind that you probably are getting a lower than normal price now for your electricity from them because they also supply your gas as well.
Once the gas supply is switched to npower, your electricity bill may increase as any special dual fuel deal you now get will cease.0 -
Thanks, i think i should switch as the amount of kwh i use works out alot cheaper on npower. Dual discount is only about 10 pounds a year, so the switch would still save me alot.0
