unable to play downloaded music

I have purchased some songs from tescos musicdownloads and saved them to my music in my documents. The songs are WMA which is compatable with my MP4 player. I then saved them to my "unbranded" MP4 player. I am unable to play the music, the mp4 says 'format error' and when I try to play them on my computer it comes up with server error in '/drmserver' application

I have absolutely no idea what all this means, this is the first time I have ever used the player so iswhat do i do and how (in easy terms)
