Vehicle Inspection for Audi TT - Auteco or AA or RAC

Help. I am looking to buy an audi tt which is about 7 years old - privately. THe cost of buying privately is about 3k cheaper (8K) than franchised dealer(11k ish) but as you all know private does not come with any guarantees and is quite risky.

I am planning to get a vehicle inspection done with one of the above. Auteco is cheaper but not well know.

Can anyone tell me if this is worth it because I have read in some forums that thes inspection may not be worth it.

another choice is to have am audi garage take a look but I done know if they will do this.

Any advise will be appreciated.

Pull away on full lock to see if there is any grumbling...
Check the diff aint playing up...
Check all the guages work in the dash as that was one of the many, many common problems...
If it's an eary one make sure it has a boot spoiler...

They are a fun car and better looking than the new one, but oh so unreliable...

Personally, I'd get any inspections done by a known Audi specialist. When I've bought BMWs and Mercs in the past, I have always got independant specialists to do the inspections as they know the cars better than most. Often, if they are local, they dont even charge as much as the AA and RAC.

As suggested in another post, look on the Audi TT forum and ask advice there.

  • Stay WELL AWAY from Auteco Vehicle Inspections. They are totally incompetent with little regard for complaints once they have your money. It is for this reason you cannot contact them directly and emails are ignored. Had two cars inpected by them at virtually the same time. One had oil spewing from the oil cooler and the other had ruined synchro so that when you changed from second to third gear, the grating nearly took your hand off!

I am pursuing them through the courts for compensation of over 1600 pounds for repairs. STAY WELL AWAY FROM THEM!!!

    Roger Keith....

I totally agree with you. Autoeco are a total bunch of muppets, waste of time, incompetent and rip-off merchants. And that's putting it lightly!

You are right, once they have your business and have taken your cash, they never reply to your emails or return any calls.
You can email or phone the boss JIM or his side-kick Simon but they will never pick up or reply to your emails.

If you dial the 0800 number which takes you through to a stage-show of robots who read from a script you will get no sensible response other than "..there is no-one here right now, can I take your name and number and you will get a call back from Jim".

I left my name and number so many times I can't even remember ... did I get a call back? Err NO, of course not!. Never!
My last cause of action was to Prank their lines by calling them every 2 minutes for over 2 hours at a time.

You are probably thinking " Has this guy got nothing better to do". Well actually, driving back from London everyday I was quite happy to call their freephone number and make them 'suffer'. And suffer they did. They were not happy, really!
Even the telephone muppets had enough and asked me to stop...
    What a laugh.

Anyway, I paid for a service which was not fulfilled and so I am not gonna give up lightly.
