Comet Delivery Damage

Options
Hi

Not sure this is the right place to post this (sorry if its not)

We had a Fridge Freezer delivered on Saturday morning from Comet and they have scratched the walls all along the hall (which we've just had painted a month before) and left mud all over the hall carpet it really is a mess. The delivery guys were really nasty and I actually felt quite frightened when they tried to demand that I sign the delivery note to say that they had not done any damage to the property. I didn't sign it but they refused to leave me a copy and didn't install the fridge they just left it in the middle of the kitchen.
I paid extra to have it installed.

I called comet customer service straight after they had gone as I was in tears and also felt quite scared as one of the delivery men was still stood in my front porch having a cig being quite intimidating. They said someone would call me back on monday and pretty much fobbed me off.

Has anyone had any similar problems and if so how was it sorted out ? I paid in excess of £500 to have my hall decorated and I just want to cry as its just been destroyed as well as the fact that I was so scared, I'm so angry

Thanks for reading.

  • Sorry to say but your first mistake was to us comet. You will most likely end up having to sue comet for damages. I did and won, eventually.

Has the item been unpacked? If not, get them to come and collect it and get your money back. It looks like they've broken their side of the deal.

I hope you get this sorted! My nan had her brand new (4 days installed) carpet ruined by Harveys when they traipsed mud inside, she signed as she too was intimidated.... and then my mum took the bull by the horns and demanded compensation and a brand new carpet paid for by them.

Fight your ground! Let us know how you get on....

Comet are crap. Currys aren't much better. Their delivery men all look like ex-convicts!

How do you install a fridge? I'm sure that ours had to stand for a few hours to let whatever it is inside (some know-all will tell you exactly what it is in a minute) settle - before we switched it on at all.

Do you mean you paid for unpacking?

I always watch delivery men like a hawk and wouldn't hesitate to tell them to stop if they were too close to my walls.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!
  • Aw no, this is horrible for you.

Please ring Comet and get them to send one of their area managers out to you to inspect the damage, make sure they refund your installation and delivery fee and take photos of the damage too.

When I bought my first house, I ordered a fridge from Powerhouse, they were similar, they scratched my wall, trod oil or something similar into my carpet and left a black mark on my new kitchen.

I called the store, the manager came out and so did the area manager and I got a free fridge!
