ebay confusion??

Options
hi guys,
I've just logged onto to my ebay account to list some stuff to sell and ebay is behaving very strangely.
My OH and I both have accounts with totally different names and bank details etc but when I've logged on in my name the summary page is saying hello gary(which is OH) and then in the brackets that show the ebay seller name it has my account name. it's really odd! before that I logged in to my account and it showed my summary details correctly but when i went on to the selling page it came up with OH's name and account number at the top with his email address in the paypal details section!
we're really confused, has anyone else had this problem? I even restarted my pc and cleared all cookies etc but ebay still did the same.
thanks guys, lainey.

We use 2 different browsers, Firefox for one account and Internet Explorer for the other, this stops the accounts getting muddled, and you can keep the remember me switched on too!

When you log in to eBay, and various pages thruough out eBay, it places a file on your computer called a cookie, which is effectively a signpost to ebay to show who is logged in, what items they have browsed etc.

Ideally you would need to clear these cookies, and clear the temporary internet files every time you log out of either account, but this is not always practical, as it will also clear any saved passowrds or logins you may have.

What you can do is download another internet broswer such as firefox http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/

This way you can use Internet Explorer for one account, and Firefox for another, with no clash of cookies.

  • hi all, thanks for your quick replies. Before I posted this query I cleared all my cookies, did a disc clean up, restarted my laptop and tried both firefox and internet explorer to log into my account so i have already eliminated the obvious causes.
we also never have the 'keep me logged in' box checked.
we've never had this happen before, i think i'll leave it for tonight and log in tomorrow.
thansk again for your suggestions guys.
