Upgrading to wireless

I am currently using Orange broadband through a Speedtouch modem connected to my laptop. I'd like to go wireless and can't get my head around how to do this. I can't find an email address for Orange to ask them how to get a Livebox and am loathe to ring Orange as the cost involved is extortionate !
I see Netgear recommended quite a bit on various forums I've looked at but I'm not certain which type of wireless router to go for and how to set it up.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with a simple answer for a complete wireless newbie ?

There's a sticky at the top of this forum covering all things wireless. Have a look at that and it will explain what you need to do once you have bought your router/modem.It's my problem, it's my problem
