Retrospective Main. Grant?

Hey..

After my A-Levels, I did a foundation degree in Art and Design before I began my Interior Design degree...but I never applied for any types of loans and such (Uni paid the course fee)

However, could I retrospectively apply for the Maintainance Grant to see if I could have got something? I've got a feeling I could have - and even if the Grant only comes to £150 or something, its better than nothing.

Cheers in advance

  • Whether you get grants or not depends on your circumstances; I live on my own with no source of income, am 6 months pregnant and still don't get any grants! You may, however, be entitled to a maintenence LOAN though...that's what I have. Do let us know how you get on, good luck.

    Hey.

Thanks for the replies, but I don't think I made myself clear..

I'm not applying for a grant and loan for this year upcoming - but instead for a course I did 2 years ago...I think I may have been entitled to some ££s from a grant.

So effectively, Im trying to go back in time..if that makes sense?
  • I'm afraid that you can't normally apply retrospectively for funding and almost certainly not for a course that has already finished.

I agree with student advisor - you might be able to apply for funding for a current academic year of a course even if it was late in the year (though there are rules around this), but you can't if that academic year or course has finished.

No you can't as maintenance grant is for maintenance costs during your course. Once the course is over you cannot apply for anything you missed.

You may, however be able to access the "access to learning fund" if you are in financial hardship - in your application you should mention that you received no grant in year 1 and had to fund yourself.
