Im in uni full time and dont work so get tax credits, however i have a work experience thing im getting paid for monday to wednesday this week as uni is still off for easter. Now what i want to know is, will they only reduce my tax credits for this one week? or will it mess them up a bit more long term? Also do I have call them tomorrow to let them know? or will they know anyway due to the employer having my national insurance details etc?
thanks

Your post doesn't make sense, you say you don't get tax credits, then you say about reducing it - which is it?
Are you a mature student (over 25), have children or have a disability? Oh and how many hours is the three days work?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I take it you mean tax credits for your children, have you an OH who works? For 3 days pay it shouldnt affect your yearly entitlement, not sure if this kind of work counts towards WTC, if you are single parent you only have to work 16 hrs to be entitled. Once again give some more details on finances and family and someone will tell you entitlement. How old are you?Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

3 days work turned out to be 28 1/2 hours ending this weekYour post doesn't make sense, you say you don't get tax credits, then you say about reducing it - which is it?

Hi Emmy
For future reference you must work for at least 4 weeks to be entitled to working tax credit.
The 25yr old rule applys to single people, if you have children you are entitled if you are over 16.
Your child tax credits probably wouldnt of been affected if you'd worked for 4 weeks, as it would have little effect on your yearly income.
When i started work last nov' my OH still got £116 child tax credits and i received £79 working tax credits on £18900 income.
If during the summer break you manage to get a 16 hr job(4weeks+) do apply because with no income you will get the maximum ctc/wtc for your circumstances as i surmise you have a student loan perhaps, well this is disregarded for tax credit purposes.
Good luck with your studies and hope it goes well.
I admire anyone in your position.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
hey thats fine - i was more worried about my normal tax credits being reduced, not really wanting to get working tax credits.
Thanks
