remove glue left behind by wallpaper border

I am trying to remove a border from my sons room. It goes around the middle and around the top unfortunately.
I have so far removed the top layer from one wall. The vinyl comes off, then soak again and the rest comes off. Behind a load of glue is left. It is very hard to scrap off. impossible in places.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
Any cheap ideas welcome otherwise do they sell border glue remover?
It is on a painted wall. I put it on myself about 6 years ago with wallpaper border glue in a tub not wallpaper paste. Lesson learnt. No more borders!

try a green scourer and warm water0

I'd add sugar soap to warm water and use a scourer as nickj says.
If that doesnt work something like white spirit or methylated spirits on a rag may soften the glue up.

You could try a hairdryer to warm it up, it should become soft and peel off.0
