I don't know but ask yourself whether you're willing to pay your ex's rent if she doesn't regardless of reason why? :undecided0

I'm not willing. I just find it odd that they ask is all.In Progress!!!0

most agents do credit checks, and if you dont meet their required level, will ask for a guarantor, or several months rent in advance0

Presumably your ex will be getting housing benefit to pay the rent? If the benefit is paid direct to the landlord I don't see a need for a guarantor but if not I can see why they want one. Some tenants fail to pay it on to the landlord
As southernscouser says, though, only agree to act as a guarantor if you are willing and able to pay the rent if she doesn't.0 -
I had to have a guarentor as they dont often count tax tcredits etc as income, so mine had to be able to cover the whole rent should I not be able too.£2 Savers club £0/£150

She is moving in with three people who work but they are not allowed to be her guarantor, i find that strange. In Progress!!!0

A guarantor has to pay the rent if the person renting fails to do so. The other 3 people would probably not want to do this. The Agent/Loandlord wants a guarantor in this case, it's up to your ex to find someone who will do it and is credit worthy.
Your ex has asked you, so if they don't pay you will have to.
You need to think about that bit before commiting.0
