Online Estate Agents

Just wondering if anyone has sold/selling their home through an online estate agent.

I must admit I am tempted as I only ever look for houses on rightmove

  • glen, i only ever look at houses on rightmove but our last property we found by chance in the paper.

    bear in mind that rightmove is area orientated whereas the paper could be putting in front of people who havent thought about your road/area.

    I certainly go to rightmove first, and if more serious about buying in the immediate future, would certainly go through every website I could, as well as going through agents.

    However, an internet forum like this may not be the best place to ask such a question. As the people here are likely to be much more "online" orientated than the typical buyer.

    same here, sold within 30 days for £500 fee. I would never use a "traditional" estate agent or pay 1%, as long as you are happy to do your own viewings.

    £199 listing + vat
    £249 HIPs pack + vat

    £199 + vat on completion

    If we were to go with a high st estate agent (lets say 1% comission) would we still need to pay for a HIPs pack? How much are they

    We just sold our house for 280 odd quid with an internet one. Move & Save in Nottingham. It's a local one, but I presume there are others similar near to you.

    That 1000k extra will soon be sat in my bank!

    I don't think it's quite as good as a normal EA, but a sale is a sale, and can't fault the price!

    You should be able to source a HIP for around the £250-300 + VAT.

    I sold my lsat house myself through an online property website. £120 for a years advertising space.....saved myself a fortune!
  • I'd be interested to see what Jorgan says, but I'm always concerned that people who use online estate agents or advertise their own properties directly on the net forget that it isn't just case of finding a buyer who will pay a price that you are happy with, but making sure that the buyer CAN proceed (he's not a time waster with a load of CCJs and no chance of a mortgage) and DOES proceed.

    I've always felt that good estate agents are worth their money because they have an interest in making sure the deal dos go through and their experience should mean that they will know what questions to ask.

    Good evening: We looked at many properties over the years and have never been qualified by an estate agent (large chains and independents)..some asked for no more than a mobile phone number and have never been taken for a ride by a 'buyer' who failed to complete...sellers are another story:eek: In the end, you need to look out for your own interests, be confident in your abilities and try to anticipate the potential problems: a competent solicitor comes in handy as well ;). Buyer and seller beware in the UK property game.
