I suggest you speak to Trading Standards, and see what they advise.

I sympathize with the probs you have had. There was a similar situation at my venue I also posted on here and the replies made me feel alot better. I felt like as soon as I booked the venue that gave them free licence to charge what they wanted as they were"amending their wedding package" at the time I booked. However they didn't realise they were dealing with a strict MSE!! and I was not prepared to handover even more money than already quoted just for the privelege of getting married in their hotel. I kicked up a fuss and they are doing it as originally agreed.

But demand more, YOU are paying them alot of money for providing a service and giving them business they wouldn't normally have on a Sunday. They should be bending over backwards to please you. you are doing them a favour not the other way round and obviously they have to make profit but there's profit and there's ripping people off. (sorry for long and ranty post)

You are SO right. Thank you SO much everyone for all your support!! I really appreciate it and it has really helped! :grouphug:

Spoke to Trading Standards and they we're really nice. However not much was stated in our contract, apart from pay us everything early, we can change prices when we like and if you complain you can only claim so much. So as we've paid most of the money, all we can do is officially let them know of our concerns, i.e. just as you all suggested, recorded delivery letter. He stressed that the hotel could only make 'reasonable' charges.

If we're really unhappy afterwards we can claim damges from them ... what a malarkey! :rotfl:

Decided to go with laughter rather than tears. After all, whatever corse we take, it won't bankrupt us, just bruise our principles, and I get to marry a truely wonderful guy

It's not the venu's fault you feel rushed - you only gave yourself three months to organise it! And to be honest htier prices sound pretty typical. I think maybe you need to breathe a little hon, and get Bridezilla under control. You will have a lovely day :)

I have to say I'm shocked at th eprices someplaces charge... The venue we went with are doing the evening buffet with 8 dishes I think it is for £16.50 per person but they only charge for 75% of the guests for the buffet (don't ask it's confusing lol) Again they don't over charge for the main meal and it's actually working out slightly cheaper than I expected as they are not charging me for the evening room which I thought they were - £600 saved there then!!
They revised their prices over christmas too... they went up a whole £1 per head! I think I just need to stop worrying and recognise I've found a nice place to have our wedding... :)

Maybe I should have specified that we felt rushed whenever we met our allocated venue person i.e. they always had something more important to be doing. The rest of the organisation has been no problem, including some photographer and makeup recommendations from this forum. Thanks all :A

Very happy to report that we talked to a nice manager, left it with her for a few days, and she sorted that they're only charging us more for the something nice for the veggies. Lovely lady :) Hotel still a building site but ...... by the sounds of mookiandco, bingo bango and ddh2481 we're getting away lightly.

Honest, no Bridezilla tendancies at all, wouldn't be my style. Quite harsh I thought. Mild interview-zilla traits maybe - have got doctoral interviews 3 days before and 3 days after wedding. Timing or what :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh venna, what are your interviews for-not clinical psychology is it, as it's the right time of year?
