Electrical Earthing problem

Had survey back.
No Major problems according to surveyor however he has said that the elctrics may not be fully compliant.
When I asked him what he meant he said that the earthing does not look right under sink I have no idea what he is on about. Anybody know how much its likely to cost to get this checked/remedied. Surveyor said that Southern Electric will do it for free but only for the owner of the property which I am not yet.
Any ideas please? I do not want to lose house by going back to vendor and trying to get more off price if its only a few quid. He said it was wires that go under the sink for earthing.

Have not heard of supply companys fixing this for free, could be different on mainland though anyway,There should be a 10mm earth cable run from your meter box to the incoming water supply pipe (usually under the sink) the earth wire should then be connected to the incoming pipe and then cross bonded to your kitchen sink (if metal of coarse) the rest of the copper piping in your home should also cross bonded. if 10mm cable is already at your kitchen sink but not reconnected due to new kitchen fit for example should cost no more than £50 tops but if no earthing cable from meter is presant at all and one needs run could cost up to £150 tops, Trust me i am a spark any more and your getting ripped off . Hope this helps.A bargain is only a bargain, if you need it :T0

erm...... Unless your water incomer is in the kitchen don't the current regs say that EPB is not required in kitchens anymore and sinks are specifically mentioned as not needing bonding in kichens.
Just a thought I'm not going to start another mega thread about bondingThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Guys thanks very much.
Pleaser, they dont fix for free they do a free elctrical check! Then no doubt find some faults you have to get done. I think there is a crossover from both your replies the surveyor by his own admission is not an electrician and it appears he is covering his @rse by mentioning it.
In any case you have both put my mind at rest so cheers.0
