You do need to invest a serious amount of money into a business and you do need to employ a minimum number or americans in that business. It is not easy my Husbands business partner just had to return to the UK for his renewal Visa interview and it cost him alot of money in immigration fees not to mention the cost of the flight. Also remember the cost of living is alot cheaper but medical insurance costs a fortune out there. You are lucky if you have a good employee scheme but you still need to pay towards it. You pay everytime you go to the doctors, dentist etc. It may only be $30 dollars or so but if you have children it soon mounts up. On the plus side I had my Son out there and it was the most fantastic experience and they are brilliant at screening for illnesses.

My parents live in Kentucky USA and its complete financial meltdown in the US at the moment.

You can pick up a house in Detroit for $500, but whats the good of that when there are no jobs? And detroit is a pit anyway.

Can't see the economy picking up there any time soon.

I'll try and find the link but in the last 24 hours I read of a woman who lost her 2 year old to cancer a few years back and declared bankruptcy because she had run up medical bills of $5m (yes, that's 5 million dollars)

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

I know people who have moved/wanted to move to the USA. You basically have to prove that you're doing a job that no-one who is already an american citizen can do. We had a friend who went to work for a Hot Rod builder for a while, then managed to get his own garage started, but it took ages, and lots of underhand tricks (!) Also, his wife, who was a qualified nurse, and their kid couldn't go out there to live for a couple of years because they wouldn't let a UK immigrant bring his family over until he had worked there for so long. It was an awful time for them, but they managed it in the end. I think it's probably easier if you just marry an American citizen!!!
P.S our friend also has to get PG tips shipped out to him....consider the cul tural differences!!!:D
