am not sure if my comp has a virus? on the desktop the right bottom corner there is usually icons like msn and virgin pc guard but there not there now amd cant seem to find whats happend to them. also i am getting a large quantity of pop up ads even with the blockers on can i find out if i have a virus? thanks

Well what you could do is skip to the bit about the hijackthis log (last stage) and post it here. Then someone will be able to have a look and see if there's a problem there. If it can be solved from that (and most likely is that it's a simply browser hijacking) it'll save you having to mess about with all the scans, installations etc.

• Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
• When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
