Get your direct line buildings insurance reduced.

I have just shopped round to get a better deal on my buildings insurance as Direct line is charging £154.00 had a good look round and found a quote that covered my needs with LV for £108.00. Before I purchased thought I would call direct line to inform I was not renewing. They said as of this year they can now offer loyal customers (I've had account 5 years + ) 40% discount. So quote came down to £92.00.
Just wish these companies would offer these deals up front and not wait until we decide to go elsewhere.
Thought this may save 1 or 2 of you some money on renewals.

They only offer these deals to stop you cancelling the insurance, they would never offer them up front, wouldnt make any money that way!!!

    I thought everybody did this?

At renewal time I always offer our current insurer the chance to match or better any quote I have got thats cheaper then the renewal. We usually change car and bike co's every year as we get a better deal by moving and current co's aren't interested in keeping you on.
The only co we have stayed with for any length of time is our buildings and contents co as they are keen to match cheaper quotes we get so we stay with them.
Recently the renewal was £290 but I got it down to £219 with another co. I called them to say we wouldn't be renewing as we got a better quote and they matched it.

    The co is RIAS.

Agreed. No doubt the majority of policyholders will simply renew at the quoted price without shopping around. I tend to.
    Reassuringly expensive

Are you going to carry on doing so in the future? :D

Its so easy to shop around and the saving that can be obtained makes you feel good, better in your pocket than theirs!
