How legal??

I recently bought a TV from Argos and applied for an Argo card to take advantage of the 10 months interest free offer. The tv was delivered a few days later, however, the paperwork for the card and credit application arrived after that.

Considering i hadn't yet signed anything, could i, in theory, have wrangled the tv for free?? Im not considering this by the way, i have signed and posted said documents..... :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was just wondering what the legal stance was....

  • Not possible i'm afraid. With any store card application, you will of signed a Merchant reciept the same as if you had made a card purchase-when they process the start of your application in store, the card is automatically charged, and the account number and store card number is produced before you even leave with the goods.

They will have your personal details on file, and with it being Argos, I am assuming buying a tele that they took your details to pass on to TV Licencing as they are bound by law to do now, so really, although I can't blame you for the thoughts of dishonesty (you are only human of course)....

IT'S NAUGHTY AND YOU SHOULD RETURN THE PAPERWORK AND PAY YOUR DEBT!

Sorry, I probably sound like your Mum.

No, you filled out an application and signed the application, i used to work for Argos and when we done the applications we phoned the processing dept and read the contents of the application to the underwriter, we could not proceed with the app unless it was signed first.
