before i explain this story i have used play.com for years and always recived a good service, last week i ordered a "iron maiden-donington 1992 " dvd, this wasnt actually from play.com but thru a seller on play.com called playtrade, similar to what amazon do,on reciving the item,i have discoved this dvd isnt a original, and although not made by the seller its fairly obvious its a cheaply made bootleg from a german company,i have e-mailed the seller to make them aware, with no reply yet,but surely play.com as a company should be making sure selelrs who sell thru there site sell original items only and not bootlegs?

I would guess that it probably says that in the agreement/contract that exists between the playtrade seller and Play. However it would be physically impossible for Play to verify every item that is sent from a 3rd party seller is a genuine item.
See what the seller says and then get Play involved if needed. Also if it's from a non-UK manufacturer what makes you think it's not genuine? I've got DVD's from around the world and some, particularly R5 ones, that look dodgy but they are produced as cheap as possible for that market.

it certainly isnt genuine(well a band record label or suchlike release) as they were realsing it then put it back, thats why i ordered it think it was a original, you can also tell by the packaging it isnt a officila release
As said though, it's not as if play.com physically inspect the items, any more than ebay physically inspects items.
Give them a few days and if still no response then lodge a complaint with play. I guess it will then be down to play's discretion what to do after that."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Did you buy it from the seller inandout?
They are based in Austria, so it makes sense that it's a German production. A quick scoot around on the internet shows that this is available from a few German sites and is listed as a bootleg. From what I remember, German bootlegs for all types of recording seem to be more freely advertised than in other countries.
So it appears you have a bootleg, so now see what the seller says and then take it up with Play if you get no joy.0
