why is ask.com hijacking me getting to websites?

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Firstly, ask.com is not my default or homepage, so why oh why is it butting in everytime i'm trying to get on a few webistes. I'm not wanting to go anywhere out of the ordinary, just news of the world homepage (it worked fine last night), or the sun, or my banks website?
Its doing my head in, i just want to see whats going on in the world whilst i have my cuppa on a sunday morning.
Can anyone please help, or advise how i can rid ask.com?
