can be faulty Ram,if you have 2 sticks of ram try removing one at a time and try again

you could also try removing any pci cards, graphics cards etc and trying to boot, also make sure nothing is plugged in the usb ports etc

I have taken out one of the ram and i am in the process of re-installing windows again i will let you know the progress.

There is nothing in the usb port but i would be really uncomrfortable taking out pci cards, graphics cards as i have never done it before.

Do you think the cd rom could be faulty?

A Rundll error is usually related to the graphics card (and in my experience, usually Nvidia). It shouldn't really affect the running of your computer. Is it causing issues?

Click Start, Run & type msconfig. Go to Startup tab and expand the Location field. Look for anything that points to Rundll32.exe and disable it.

Then restart the computer and see if you still get the message.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

The pc is not working properly due to the errors when installing windows.
Commands like msconfig regedit etc are not working.

If i type msconfig i get the message windows can't find msconfig.exe

Unplug ALL PCI cards, they are not needed for the install, see if it boots then

it's the only way you can check these items

just make a note of which slot they were in

Can you get into the hard drive diagnostics?
Press f12 if and when the Dell boot screen comes up and see if it's listed.
Run it and if you get Fail - Return Code 7 then the hard disc has gone.
If they are still using Maxtor rubbish then I would not be surprised as this happened to me twice with a Dimension 4700 a while back.

I would start from a bare setup .

Ram HD and Video card installed only .
Reinstalling windows best done via a format before install .Though format wipes your entire C drive of everything but that way you get rid of any ongoing software problem .A format will at least clean out all spyware trojans etc but you really need to back everything up to disc if you want to save pictures docs music etc .
After XP install you install drivers for everything the best is to download the latest and put them on a disc .
With a clean windows install you are left with only four components that could still be giving the problem Motherboard unlikely RAM probable try swopping out sticks .Video card borrow a working one and try . Hard drive failing try running makers hard drive tester or other HD testing stuff .
But my guess would be that its either spyware virus related or the usual driver problem .
