Berlin Transport

Quick help needed. I posted a while ago about advice for my son about getting transport to Berlin (Kudaam area) from the airport as I had booked his last 2 nights in that area and thought he would spend the first 2 nights there as well. A change in plans, he decided he wanted to stay in the East for the first 2 nights and has booked the Best Western City Ost.
What's the best way to get to the hotel from the airport using transport, I've found out he needs to start on the S9 from the airport and change a few times? Can he get to his hotel using 1 ticket bought from the airport and use rail and underground or does he need several tickets or indeed a day pass which would cover both forms of transport to the hotel?
Anything recommended to do/see in the East area? I've had lots of advice for thr Kudaam area.

Many thanks,

Lynsey

Here are the pages (in English) of the Berlin Public Transport Authority, featuring maps, tariffs etc.

Berlin has more than one airport, but as you mentioned 'S9', I presume you are talking about Berlin-Schönefeld airport. Take 'S9' to 'Treptower Park' or 'Ostkreuz', change and go one or two stops to 'Frankfurter Allee' (the Hotel is Frankfurter Allee 57).

A single ticket allows changes, even interuptions; but the journey has to be completed within a certaintime limit.

We are going to Berlin for the first time this weekend. All my travel questions were quickly answered on www.tripadvisor.com. Go to the Berlin Forum, local experts there give really good advise. There has been local transport strikes recently, we are just hoping that they are all finished now. Im sure your son will have a good time.
