Anyone know where I can find the appropriate list of what constitutes "relevant building work undertaken in their property.....by a third party who is a member of a competent persons scheme"?
Also what exactly do I ask the person for?
Both Corgi and FENSA were easy - they sent a Building Regulations Compliance documents
But I'm more thinking of electrics, plumbing, plastering and carpentry?
Also, in my experience many of these "chaps" like domestic work at the weekend - Ca$h  no papertrail

i dont know where you get a list from but the only competent persons schemes i am aware of relate to FENSA (windows), CORGI (boilers) and for electrical work carried out since 1st Jan 2005 a number of bodies (NICEIC, BRE, NAPIT, ELECSA etc) (see http://www.partp.co.uk
plumbing - i think there are some aspects of plumbing that can be self-certified by someone on a competent persons scheme but i dont know which bodies exist
plastering and carpentry are all things that would be covered by building control inspections (if necessary)

Just bought (well in May) the "money pit"!
Decided to "knock through" and make a big bathroom - 4 piece inc free standing bath....then noticed the regs (yikes)
Wastes moved, but using existing soil pipe....
(why have I got this feeling of dread.....
