WIN tickets to the BFI’s London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
by Mike Barnard
Diversity Milkround is proud to be supporting the British Film Institute’s 22nd London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, and you could go to a screening for free.
It’s the UK’s third largest film festival and has been bringing the best in queer cinema to audiences in the capital, offering unparalleled access to the best in European and World cinema.
Hundreds of visiting filmmakers and cast will be seen throughout the two-week event running from Thursday, March 27 to Thursday, April 10. There are more than 100 films being screened and 250,000 people are expected to take the opportunity to view them.
It kicks off with a gala screening of Alek Keshishian’s Love and Other Disasters, his sharper, gayer version of Love, Actually crossed with a pinch of The Devil Wears Prada, starring Brittany Murphy, Matthew Rhys. Vivere, the elegant new film from Angelina Maccarone focusing on the lives of women in transit, will close the even, but there are plenty of other great films to see.
Centrepiece screenings include Parvez Sharma's A Jihad for Love, a landmark film in the ongoing debate about the nature of true Islam, Islamophobia and homophobia, and Luc!a Puenzo's accomplished debut XXY - Argentina's nominee for Best Foreign Language Academy Award 2008. The LLGFF is also running free four-day workshops for aspiring filmmakers. If you have little or no experience of filmmaking, are under 25 and are lesbian, gay, bi or trans, this workshop is for you.

WIN TICKETS TO THE FESTIVAL
Diversity Milkround supports equal opportunities for graduates and, along with the Festival, continue to celebrate the diversity of lesbian and gay and international culture. We are also supporting some of the festivals key initiatives, including a collection of innovative and rebellious films under the banner: New Queer Cinema and Youth Projects for Aspiring Filmmakers.
We have teamed up with the BFI to offer you the chance to win two tickets to see Mala Noche at the National Film Theatre on Tuesday, April 8th. The ground-breaking US indie queer classic from 1986 is Gus Van Sant’s tale of boy on boy obsession ion the wrong side of the tracks.
To win a pair of tickets, simply email what you'd expect from an ideal diversity service to diversity@milkround.co.uk.
All replies will be entered into a draw for the tickets and the winner will be informed by email.
The closing date for entries is 12noon on Friday, April 4.
G'luck!
