Daughter's boyfriend has hung himself!

My thoughts are with your whole family too.
Depending on how 'difficult' the relationship has been over the last six months, and in what way 'he turned on her' during the argument, she may also find speaking to some of the domestic abuse/violence organisations helpful, to think about repairing her self esteem etc. I may be reading too much into this, but in my professional life I've worked with women whose partners have tragically committed suicide after years of abusing their partner (not necessarily physically), and this has a whole other angle. Please PM me if you think I may have any info that would be useful to you.

My heart goes out to you. My brother in law did the same thing many years ago and it was an immense shock to us all even though he and my sister had parted. Still makes me very sad today.
You are not useless! Being there for your daughter is the main thing. She will go through all the emotions of anger and despair etc, my sister did. In the end of the day, he was ill, your daughter did not put the noose round his neck (hope that didn't sound crass).
Only one person did this and that was your daughters boyfriend!

Just a quick note with a little info about inquests.....
There will be an inquest - it was a "sudden death".
There will be a post-mortem, at the Coroner's request.
The inquest will be "opened" by the Coroner within a few days and an interim death certificate will be issued, at which point the family will then be able to arrange a funeral.
A Coroner's Officer (usually a Police Officer) will then pull together the information required by the Coroner to hold the inquest - this will include post-mortem report, any toxicology report, statements from his family & close friends (probably including your daughter), and a report from the attending police & ambulance/paramedic staff.
The inquest may be months away.
When the inquest is held, it is a formal process, and the Coroner will give his verdict. The family will then be able to apply for a full death certificate.
Any insurance policies will probably not pay out until the full death certificate is obtained.
Hope this helps.
I'm sorry for your loss - sudden death is never easy to understand or to accept.0 -

Don't feel helpless. Suicide is one of those things that can never be properly explained. You're right to suggest going to the doctor, but there will more than likely be a long waiting list; when my father died (suicide) when I was 18, I was also classed as a high risk due to the family history and my own history of depression. Despite being 'high risk', the waiting list was 11 months long.
I found The Samaritans helpful, but found most help came from Cruse. You can find your local branch at https://www.crusebereavementcare.org.uk

My condolences to you and your daughter. Several years ago a close friend committed suicide and I can remember vividly the sequence of events from that point until the inquest and Floss2 has summed it up precisely.
