Which DVD recorder?

Hi, we are looking to replace our dvd recorder but haven't a clue which to buy?

We have two Panasonic's, 1 is approx 18 mths old, it rarely records properly. Sometimes it switches off after 9 minutes, resets and restarts. Sometimes it misses the end of the programme.
The second is just over 12 mth old, it we have had problems with a few discs this week an wonder if it is the player that is faulty. We recorded a program on an almost new disc, the program is not there but it says the disc is full.

We are reluctant to invest in another Panasonic, but know nothing about any other machines.

We like the RAM facility, we can delete the adverts from films, not sure if you can do this on RW discs. Looked on some reviews Samsung don't seem to do too well.

Can anyone advise please?

    Just a quickie?

Does anyone know if you can delete the adverts from films on a DVD recorder that uses RW discs?

    Thanks

Simple editing such as deleting adverts is made much simpler by choosing a DVD recorder with a hard disk. So all the trimming and preparation work is done on the hard disk copy first.

The DVD is "burned" when you're happy with the hard disk copy and is more likely to be reliable. The copying process from hard disk to DVD disk is also much faster than recordings in "real-time".

    Thanks Mike

We had wondered whether to go down this route. We have loads of discs but don't seem to edit them quick enough at times. It is also a pain needing to tie up 2 machines when copying.

Do you recommend any particular model?
