Travel insurance.... visiting friends?

I've just been trying to sort insurance out for my 4 week trip to Chile.
I'm visiting a friend, staying with them, so many of the things covered won't apply.
Obviously I need medical and have looked for dental to be included, but not all policies specify this.
I'm taking my lap top, but have noticed most companies only cover one item up to £300.
Any ideas, my head is spinning, I just pick any one when travelling in Europe, but South America, I need a good policy.

We have annual travel insurance but we cut the cost by using our home insurance to cover luggage. You would need to pick a worldwide policy with trip length suitable for your four week trip, some only cover 14 nights in one trip. Try moneysupermarket for a choice of prices etc.
