Payed £50 BT phone line deposit, but wont install!!!

we moved into our house in october which had the phone line box disconnected from the wall we got hold of BT in january to install a phone line we gave them the number that was on the phone line box and they took my £50 deposit and said they would be over in 3 days......3 days came and no one arrived i phoned bt again and they apologized for this and said they would send someone out a week later.......i also got a voicemail confirming my phone line would also be activated on the same day the engineer would install it.....BT didnt arrive again so for the 3rd time we rang them and yet again got another apointment what a surprise no one turned up!!.....we rang them AGAIN and all they were saying is that there was no fault on the line and everything was ok we tried to explain that there was no phone line installed and we were holding the box in our hands they continued to disagree and were saying the line the fine after 3 hours (yes 3 hours) in the phone box we gave up as all we got was apologies and them telling us it was fine......as of now i have no idea what to do i cant get my refund ive spent roughly 8 hours on the phone to them in a phone box and spent £30 on our mobiles and as of now nothing has been sorted.

we've phoned up the company from who we rent the house and they confirmed the phone line was taken out as the previous tennants did a runner and left a huge bill so they told us if we wanted one we had to pay for one ourself which is fine we were just making sure there wasnt one hiding somewhere around the house.

I don't normally recommend this for general issues with BT, but in this case it seems like their systems are saying that its installed & you know otherwise, which ultimately is only going to end going round in circles.

Call the Chairmans Office on 0207 356 5000 & ask to speak to someone in high level complaints. Explain the situation to the advisor & remember to be polite and try to make them empathise with the situation. I pretty much guarantee you'll get the issue resolved that day or at the very least a firm date of when it'll be fixed.
