Maps for flights?

Hi, sorry this isn't money saving but I wondered if anyone knows of any websites that show route maps for flights.
Lots of planes pass over my house (I'm in the Pennines so probably at a crossroads), in different directions and at different heights, they're way high overhead. I'm not near an airport or anything but today when we were trying to guess where they might be going to I thought it might be so interesting to have a better idea. I've been looking on the net but couldn't really find anything. Does such a thing exist?
Thanks
Liz

No idea about maps but the ones heading north are probably going to the states - most flights go up the uk and across as it's shorter and avoids flying against the gulf stream. Coming back they don't do this as they can use the gulf stream to their advantage.0

Thank you, that's interesting. So they are probably the highest ones. Others are lower going north, some on my side of the hills, others I can see going up further east. I hope someone else can add to your information.
Thanks again0 -

Do you mean something like this.
this is for new york airport
click on here
http://tracker.flightview.com/htNYNJPA/default.asp?customer=NYNJPA&mode=ARRIVALS&airport=JFK
this is all the arrivals for jfk airport click on a flight that is about to land, you do this under status, this gives you the flight, and the time it departed, what time it is due to land, and what altitude it is flying. This also is up-dated so as the flight, starts it's descent, you can see it.
then click on here
http://tracker.flightview.com/htNYNJPA/CurrentTrafficMap.asp?ap=JFK
and look for your flight, green flights are arrivals, red flights are departures.
it's always busy over jfk at this time of night.
i'd love to find this for an english airport.0 -
There is an overlay that you can load into Google Earth which gives real-time information of the planes flying over your house. It gives flight numbers, altitudes and directions. Just go to this site :- http://www.openatc.com/, click on "View In Google Earth" and follow the directions. If you can't make it work in Google Earth, then Google Maps is almost as good. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

LHR Webtrak can be used and shows the aircraft into Heathrow. Type Webtrak into Google and you can get the ones up for EMA and Stanstead by the looks of things.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

Wow that's pretty good. With this you can track your flight almost in real time.0
