MBNA took our 0% deal away when we missed ONE payment - I assume you have rung them to argue your case ie. that you have tried to set up the DD, that you thought the DD was set up etc... If customer services aren't helpful, then ask to speak to a supervisor or the complaints department.
The only other thing you can do is transfer the balance, sharpish as I assume they will be charging you interest by the day...
Say you are going to close the account too if they don't give you 2.9% - it may help, it may not.I'm married now! Yippee!0 -

In general..
If it says on a Barclaycard statement they will take minimum payment by a certain date by direct debit then it will.. and Barclaycard are then responsible..
If the statement just says what the minimum payment amount is, and gives a due date, then there is no direct debit created for that cycle..
When you say: "I have attempted to redirect my barclaycard direct debit to the new bank but it has never set up properly." what do you mean exactly?
If you have transferred all your debits en bloc then I believe they say it remains you responsibility to either: not cancel the direct debit for the old bank account: or make separate arrangements to pay, until the debits show at the new account. I assume that your Barclaycard statement was saying an amount would be collected [i.e. the standard message] because you hadn't cancelled the debit with them [Barclaycard] at any stage, but that someone did cancel the direct debit from the Barclays bank account before IF showed a new DD for Barclaycard.
I would start by asking IF when exactly the Barclaycard DD was up and ready. Then do the same with Barclays bank - ask when the DD was stopped. If IF stopped it before setting up a new one in its place you may have a claim against IF [and vice versa Barclays bank] but if you stopped it yourself you will be responsible for any thingyups. At least, that is how I would approach the question.
Once you can get an admission of repsonsibilty you should, in principle, be finacially no worse off. [You would be claiming under the terms is the direct Debit 'guarantee'.]
Good luck.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
