Ahh all that talk of pigs eating poo reminds me of a memory of childhood in my granny's farm in Sardinia: my brother (then 5) and I (then 6) sat on top of a fig tree eating figs until our tummies became quite disturbed, we both had to "go" and being in the countryside we just "went" in the middle of the field, where the pigs were rooting. The pigs absolutely loved the treat of figgy poo!

These same pigs were the ones that went into our sausages and salamis and they were delicious to eat - no place for squeamishness if you live in a farm (or are used to farm ways). Having said that, I am now a vegetarian but certainly not because of the figgy poo episode LOL
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina - Next time I'm about to bite into a luscious purple fig I'll remember your Sardinia childhood memories. :rotfl:Now if that had been chocolate you'd been eating instead of figs, what a wonderful weight loss motivator that would have been !
  • I have been buying a using value toilet tissue and it is fine, considerably cheaper than Branded loo roll. I also dont buy kitchen roll and use a tea towel or muslin cloth if i need it to absorb any oil in food like when i am making my own vegetable crisps.

Hi all, to save pennies today I moved the microwave so I could access the plug (before plug was behind the freezer) so I can now un plug and clock light goes out. I think, no light so no paying for an item on standby.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

I'm loath to even respond to you - but I think you need to develop some sensitivity. A wife (or husband) bending the truth about a brand of food is one thing , cheating and having an affair is something else entirely.

I think you really need to catch yourself on before making such a silly judgemental comment. There are people in this site who are in absolutely desperate and dire situations, so if they need to tell porkies about the brand of cornflakes to help make ends meet, then so be it.

Like it or not, people are SNOBS when it comes to brands -my own Mother would turn her nose up at anything value, yet that's all she gets at my house (bar quality meat and eggs), yet she often jokes that she would pay me to bulk cook for her . She doesn't know it's value stuff - if she did, suddenly she wouldn't like it for that very reason. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

My mother was a single parent, and barely had enough money to feed and clothes us at times and she too hid brands from us kids.

Looking at your previous posts I see you have paid around £7750 of your debts off in the past year since your "devorce". I would like to congratulate you on that. Genuinely well done.

There are people on this site, who don't even earn that much, never mind have that much disposable income. There are people here who haven't been on holiday as a family EVER, there are people who live on handmedowns and charity from others, there are plenty who couldn't afford a christmas in December, families who have £40 to live on in a month

I don't think I really need to continue. In fact, your post was so ridiculous and judgemental I am now convinced it was typed purely for a reaction. Surely no one could have such a lack of empathy for others less fortunate than them?:(

Brilliant post Zippy. Some excellent points made.

I peed my pants laughing at the spelling of 'Devorce' surely someone who has divorced would know how to spell it! Also, probably knows a thing or two about 'lieing':rotfl::rotfl:

    Just for clarification:

There; in or at that place
    Their; belonging to them
    They're; contraction of they are

Keep up the pennysaving peeps! I love the roast onion idea. Although, I rarely roast meat. We normally live on- mince, corned beef, sausages, ham, cheese and bacon. Mind you, after the pig poo story I read earlier, I may give up pork for lent...:o

Ok up early as waiting for a delivery between 8 - 6pm. I bet they come at 5. 50 pm.

Back to the post... to make the washing machine run more efficiently I have pulled it apart. Had drawer out for a wash in the sink, also for the first time since bought undid the filter behind the trap door to give it a wash also. Now washing machine is on a wash with just vinegar to clear out the pipes.

Pulled the fridge out as I keep reading it will run at less cost if you dust behind it. Did this with the vacuum hose with brush attachment.

Parcel delivery, so wile I was up made a coffee and ate the last of Twinks biscuits :( Will now have to make some more!
In the parcel more money saving idea's - I ordered myself- so paying to gain an end result. (not the delivery I am waiting for though).

An Owl electric monitor to show us how much electric we are using £27.95. I saw one of theese in Tesco this week for £37.99. It just goes to show you have to shop on the internet for best deals. Oh said it was a good idea! I bet the adult kids say " oh Mum you and your daft idea's!

A paper potter as a gift for Oh as I encourage him to do the gardening with a little help from me. The paper potter helps you make bio-degradable paper pots for sewing and seedlings. £9.95
Shame, no rubber bands in the box like in the freebee I got yesterday! They have used brown paper for packing though! so with no children to colour on it I will use it to light the coal fire.

Post has just been - I got some Tesco club card vouchers and 1 free entry with 1 paying adult to Chessington, Thorpe park etc... Will give that to DD as she goes some times with friends.

Also came The co-perative membership card. Oh said we should join as our local shop is the co-op. The letter says each member earns points when they shop and pressent card. Points are then converted into a cash payment, and sent to you in vouchers at the end of the year.

Also got a mag. that was given to me as a years subscription at Christmas, I will sit and have a good read later.

Cheers! drinking the coffee makes me think of thoose internet cafe's in town's whare you PAY to sit and drink coffee and spend time on the computer. I did that on holiday last year and it was £1 for so many minutes. You had to feed the slot euro's as was abroad.

But this thread is unbelieveable!! It's almost as funny as the Viz tips! At least i got a good laugh from it

Viz TOP TIP..... bare patches on your lawn? Simply stop mowing a patch at the side, and let it grow to a significant length. Then with a rake, sweep it over the bare patch like Sir Bobby Charlton, to create a realistic look of healthy growth .....:rotfl:

When sorting out our spare room prior to redecorating I found some of those paint sample charts. I cut out the different coloured squares and have now reused them in some cards I've made.
