Tesco seem to be copying the Lynx too. Their Congo shower gel (88p) smells like Lynx Africa just not as strong. when OH is running low I'll get some and see if he likes it. Has anyone tried the Tesco ones?

I've bought them for my step dad before, I think they smell quite nice, its pointless buying because of a brand!

  • The credit for this one goes to my dad.

When your twisty-turny chilli grinder mill (sorry I'm not sure what it is) runs out, you can refill it with home grown dried chilli's just by taking it apart. Still works well and we've got rid of the boxes of dried chillis we kept in the cupboard "just in case".

Its not much, but I thought it was a good idea. :o

Brilliant, do you know if this works with the twisty turney pepper and salt ones also? (I don't know what they are called either :rotfl: )

I'm only on page 12 but thought I'd quickly add mine before I forget!!!

*Vaseline makes a great base for make-up and can also be used as a moisturiser.. It also helps skin look younger and a little bit will go a long way ;) It can also be used on hands and feet to make them softer- covering with socks will noticably improve the results. (already mentioned I think).

*Toothpaste is great for drying out spots as is Sudocream also great for treating spots.

*Persil aloe vera washing up liquid dilutes nicely to 5 times the original amount (other brands don't seem to dilute so well).

*Superdrug Body Dry is the cheapest deo spray I've used and by far the best.

*I used to spend a fortune on expensive fake tanning products- now I buy a cheap pot of fake and bake (99p) and mix it with moisturiser for great looking natural results.

*I use olive oil warmed for 10 seconds in the microwave as an intense conditioner fortnightly.

*Hair spray used on stained clothes usually do the trick to remove them before being washed- especially on hair dye!!

can't think of anymore at the mo

If you have one of those big bags of compost from the garden centre, add in your tea leaves (from the pot, or tea bags emptied in) and mix well. It not only makes the compost go further, but also the leaves rot down fantastically once they're in the ground.

Invest oin a bread maker - they can be had for £30-ish now but if you use it rather than buying loaves it will pay for itself in no time. Try to get one with a dough-only setting as then you can also make rolls etc.

I alternate cheap shampoo and conditioner with my more expensive ones. My hair is frizz-prone and difficult to manage, and responds best to John Frieda products, however, I've found I can use Tresemme for every second wash without any problems.

I do that, speaking as one that has just about the frzziest hair on the planet (irish background through and through) it is the worst kind of hair to try and tame, but cheap and then expensive seems to work for me.

Ah so its my mother I have to blame! I always wondered where mine came from!

In Savers (and maybe Bodyshop) you can get shampoo and conditioner - something called Big Hair IIRC - in giant pump dispenser bottles. The conditioner is fab for hair - the shampoo is fab for shower gel but useless on hair. Bottles are/were £1.89 each (larger than tresemme bottles)
