Who on earth hoovers every day???
What are they doing to create that much dirt!? Once a week should be plenty unless you have small children, or moulting pets!
I hoover almost every day - but I do have small children, and when I say I hoover, I mean the kitchen floor - we've a large, eat-in kitchen, and after a couple of days without vacuuming, there's a layer of crumbs, bits of bread, crushed rice crispies, etc. It's a tiled floor, and it only takes a minute or two to vacuum, even with moving the chairs etc. Henry lives behind the dining-room door, already plugged-in, so it's faster than sweeping with a brush.
But even with small children, I don't vacuum other parts of the house every day.0 -

I sweep up, constantly! usually when on the phone, broom in one hand, phone in the other :rotfl:
We have carpet upstairs only and the effort of lugging the b*&%$£ hoover around puts me off so it gets hoovered once a week or less...:eek:0 -

Ah, I've the baby in one arm most of the time - rare moments of two-hands-free get used for things that need two hands free LOLWe have carpet upstairs only and the effort of lugging the b*&%$£ hoover around puts me off so it gets hoovered once a week or less...
Apart from a rug in the living-room, we also only have carpet upstairs, and even then it's only the landing and master bedroom. I sorted out the lugging-the-vac-up problem by getting a second one - the smaller Henry (the yellow one) who lives in the airing cupboard - but he did come from freecycle, so still MS, if not OS :-D0 -
oh and growing own stuff - got the Hoardes involved a bit last year, we experimented and didnt buy potatoes, carrots, salad or herbs for about 6 months - fab stuff! keep it simple in a small veggie patch or just some window boxes / pots. we're going a bit more ambitious this year so hope to grow more. Tomatoes were great too, and we're still eating the green tomato chutney and the tomato sauce we made in a huge pot and froze in portions. x
Hi peeps!:j
I have posted this on another thread but I thought you might want to know that the bookshop"the Works" are doing 3 packets of veg seeds for £1 at the mo?:T
there were loads of different ones in our one but I don;t have a garden:( thought it might help a few people?!

I had a cheap small one from Tesco for upstairs when I was pregnant, but now cannot remember what happened to it! This was clearly during my pre-MSE days, when I thought I was thrifty buying maternity wear on eBay (and selling it on) but thought nothing of buying a VERY expensive D1ys0n for our small house which was too heavy to lift when pregnant!!! (chortles at memory of previous daft behaviour, as if soooo much better now)

I'm glad that this thread keeps comimg back!
At our church we have a constant supply of books and magazines that are available to borrow and return, or to pass onto others. There are always lots of books to choose from (especially after xmas when everyone has read their new ones) as people are constantly donating them. It works well and makes it easier for some people who cannot get to the library easily.
In the bathroom we have a large liquid soap dispenser for the kids which I often fill up with various cheaper soaps or gift bottles and of course I always water it down too. I tend to water most things down (fabric conditioner, shampoo etc) and find that they work just as well and last longer and no one else seems to notice.;)0 -
I just had to report that I did it! I put value ketchup into a Heinz squeezy bottle and DH didnt even bat an eyelid!!
First time I bought value ketchup I didnt disguise the bottle and DH turned his nose up saying he didnt like it, so last night was the big moment and he happily dipped his chips into it!
Just goes to show that some things are psychological0 -

Isn't it incredible they all hit this stage? My DS is exactly the same, but his friend who virtually lives in our house is completely the opposite, is always willing to help out, makes me a cup of coffee etc! DS's girlfriend is also a sheer delight and even clears up DS's room when she is here bringing down all the cups and plates that usually disappear into the black hole that is his bedroom.0
