Hi there
I wondered if anybody could tell me if they think I'm paying a reasonable amount for my gas.
I moved into a two bedroom house with one other person last October, and up until now have been paying £51 per month to Scottish Power for both gas and electric.
I input my meter readings online, and after having just given the latest reading, they have now put the payment up to £80 per month! According to the bill, we use on average 66 kwh per day. The heating comes on for 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night, but I had a new combi boiler installed just after I moved in, which I thought was supposed to make it more cost efficient.
It just seems like quite a lot to me, and wondered what other people thought?
Thanks for any advice..

Hi, we have an old house, 4 beds but big rooms and probably no insulation as it's a 1 & 1/2 storey. We're with scottish hydro, paying on direct debit coz it's cheaper. We've been paying £100 month JUST for gas for the last year and I've just had a letter telling me they're upping my DD to £182 !! what a shocker!
Have started to light the old coal fires in the downstairs rooms during the day instead of putting my heating on!! Not sure of the effect on my carbon footprint, but the bank balance will be healthier! Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
Welcome to the forum.
The average in UK is over £1,000 a year.
So £51 monthly is way under average. Even £80 is below average and that probably includes an element to pay back some of the debit balance you have built up.
Certainly if you have only been using 66kWh gas a day on average over winter, that is very good(around £12 a week)0
