Gas Hob Ignition Problems

I have a gas hob with 4 burners. The problem is, when I try to ignite it by pressing the knob, the sparks keep triggering on all the four burners, even If one is lighted and it does not go off...it just keeps on triggering and only stops if I stop the electricity.....
Any suggestions. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying that all the rings come on if you press the ignition? Surely they are all supposed to spark?0

All the electrodes spark with most gas stoves that I have come across.
There is usually only one spark generator.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Sorry, I have not made myself clear....
Yes, it should trigger all the four...the problem is, it does not stop..it just keeps on triggering...0 -
It will be the control panel under the knobs, about £50 for the part and £75 to fit it.0

Sometimes our hob does this, if you can take off the knobs you should see the plastic part that triggers the ignition when the knob is pressed down, you can try and unstick it or lube it, should sort it out...0

I get it now. Ours does this occasionally if the plastic knob is stuck down, I just take it off and put it on again.0

If the hairdrier method doesn't work, take off the control knobs, clean off any gunge (with an old toothbrush?) and apply a little WD40. Worked a treat for me. Stops the knobs getting wedged down.0
