hi there
i have recently opened a new barclays current acc. firstly i had a pin number come through, then i had a pinsentry device come through, (if i had known that i have to have this evry time i use on line banking i would not have chosen this account!!!).. Then i had the card through this morning,
When i got to barclays log in page i press log in , it asks for surname and then membership number, where on earth do i find this cos i cannot find one!!!
Also does anyone have a simple guide on how to do this, as i find it all confusing reading the booklet
thanks

You should receive a membership number from Barclays in the post. While Barclays and a few other banks are rolling out 'PinSentry' or similar online banking security methods, you'll notice that most banks are going to be rolling this new method of internet banking out very soon.
If you haven't received your membership number yet, you can ring Barclays internet banking helpline and they will be able to tell you this. When you enter your surname and membership number, you'll then be taken to a page that asks for the last 4 digits of your debit/credit card number. Then you have to put your card into the card reader, press identify and enter your pin, then a number will show on the card reader. You then enter this pin into the webpage you're on and then click Log-In.
You'll need the card reader to make payments to people online as well. Without the card reader, you cannot log in to online banking or send payments to people.
Hope this helps a little.0 -

Thats ok. While it can be a pain carrying around the card reader if you need to access your Internet Banking from work etc, at least you're more secure and know that theres a reduced chance of anyone taking your hard earned money.0 -
If you do forget your card reader though you can still log in using just your card details although it limits the things you can do with your account0

You can request additional PinSentry devices by ringing Barclays or going into your local branch. There isn't any limit on how many you are allowed.0
