I created a master account for myself on the ps3 and a sub-account for my 12 year old son, I can play online fine but when my son tries he gets a message saying not able to play online due to parental control. I have turned off all the restrictions in the security settings on the main menu but it still says the same.
Called ps3 helpline and the nice lady on the phone was clueless.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

you can set a parental control level for games or blu-ray discs or other content under settings
security settings
A password is required to change parental settings.
you can set a password under
security settings
change password
the password is set to 0000 in the default settings
PARENTAL CONTROL LEVELS FOR GAMES
you can set the parental control level for games under
security settings
"parental control"
select from
off
or one of 11 levels
off = play any content regardless of parental level
11-1 = set the parental control level based on the number
note
that the lower the number the tighter the restriction...
the combination of the parental control level of both the PS3 system and the content determine whether the content can be played...
is your son playing a 12 age game if so turn off PC as this only goes up to age 11 by the sounds of things...
if in doult start another sub-account without PC...

Hi mike, and anyone else with this problem
It has nothing to do with PS3 menu settings this problem...
My son is 14 and had his Sub-account set up for a few months now, seeing as now we have a new online game at an age limit of 16 he couldnt play it, and as you say I could.
Now the ONLY way i found to do this is to make a new account and delete old one, keeping saved games of course by moving to new account before deleting...
Set up a new Email address(you can't use old one) and set the age of your son to 18...
Okay, okay I know this is not strictly above board but I play games with my son at all times and thats how i keep control of what he plays
As a rule a play the games before he does to see content..hence GTA4 was traded in...far too much bad language for me and i'm 37
