tomtom devices

Don't know if anyone can help me, but i get stuck with my tomtom device.

Its a tomtom one V3 and it needs updating. I have the downloaded the software and connected it to my pc, my pc said your new hardware is installed and ready to use.

I then click 'yes' on my tomtom to connect to the computer and thats as far as it goes.

The tomtom home comes up that i downloaded and then cannot do anymore with it.

Any ideas?

You haven't got a software firewall installed such as zone alarm have you?

If do it may be blocking access of the TomTom to t'internet

Whilst I am sure someone will find fault, it is unlikely that the world is going to manage to infiltrate your PC in the one minute that you temporarily disable your firewall
  • No, not firewall. I'll try and work it out.

I bought a TomTom One this week as well. By the way, I have been studying lots of TomTom forums since I bought it and there seems to be confusion over model versions. You have the same one as I do, and it is not a V3 is is a "3rd Edition". It does make a difference when discussing problems on the forums.

When I fire up Home V2.2 without the TomTom connected I get Page 1 of 2 displayed on the PC (Add Maps..., Read Manual..,Operate My Device, Update My Device, Get free map corrections...). Are you seeing this menu screen?
If not then suspect your copy of HOME is duff or not installed correctly.

Without running HOME, when you connect the TomTom to the PC, can you then see it as a removable disk in Windows Explorer?
