I got turned down for credit by Furniture Village

in Credit cards
Sorry I know this probably isn't the correct board, but it was the closest match I could find.
I went to the Ideal home show yesterday & furniture village were doing 10% off & 20 months interest free credit.
I applied for credit to get a Tempur bed (about £1800). I was turned down.
I'm really mystified?
My hubby got £15,000 from Ford for a car two weeks ago. So we are not black listed or anything. We never get turned down.
Any ideas why?

Have you applied for anything else recently as well as the car?
You and your husband are financially linked so credit taken up of £15,000 then asking for £1800 for something else may have just triggered them to think twice if you can afford the payments in the countries current climate.
Did the salesman know at the time or was it a decision later on by the finance part of the company.
If this happened to me I would let the salesman know that he has lost a sale and you will be going to a competitor.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

No I didn't even think of it till I was turned down.
I was surprised at being turned down for such a small amount when A. we must have a good rating, we pay all our bills on time & B.my husband had no trouble getting the 15k for the car.
I was surprised at being turned down & said what I've said above. The salesman said I wonder if the car is why you've been turned down. But I just wondered if they were trying to think of a polite thing to say.
Nothing else apart from car, recently.0 -
Sounds like it might have saved you. A 2k bed on tick? Why would anyone do that?0

No one has mentioned the very obvious so I will, get on to Experian or one of the other credit reference agencies and check your credit file for free.(your charged after the first month so make sure you cancel your membership before then.)
This will give you a idea what your rating is and if there is any old debt that hasn't been settled yet.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -

The sales-man has nothing to do with the credit decision, he merely takes the details and phones/emails them through. He obviously wants to finance to be accepted to get his sale. Even the finance company will not give a reason, it makes it easier for someone to manipulate their scoring process. I worked in retail finance for a while and it's a baffling concept....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

You/He may have had address/name slightly wrong and it did not match a credit file check.0
