Could someone help, i have just had to give up my part time job of 4 hours because of poor health, i am on low rate Dla care for about 2 years now and had to give up my job due to severe asthma, my lung capacity is only running to 1/3 and struggling for breath, i have just been diagnosed with Bi Polar syndrome, my mental problems are not good which i need treatment for. I know the dla system in complex but could i claim for anything, i find it hard to fill out simple forms nowadays, i get comfused be all this, is there any help i could get. Am totally lost by it, i have a welfare officer who was good but she has now left and the person who replaced her is useless. Thank you

Depending on your mobility and care needs it is possible to claim a higher rate. It is best to get help from a Welfare Rights Officer to complete the forms, these can be found at the CAB, Local Council or at Disability Organisations. They should also be able to tell you if it is safe to ask for a review as awards can go down as well as up. I hope this is of some help to you.0

hi Bjorky,
If you post how your care/mobility needs have increased someone will be able to give a little more advice.
What benefits do you currently receive(this will now increase as you have less income)?
Is your GP aware of all your ailments as the DWP will probably write/call him and to any consultants as well?
How old are you?
You may be better off ringing for a review pack as your entitlement if increased will be paid from the date of asking.
I sympathise with you on your deteriorating health and at first glance it does look like your DLA should be increased without the fear of decrease so do apply i feel you have nothing to lose as getting M/R care could increase income support through premiums.
Good luck(shouldn't need it!!)
AllenForums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
