old pc help

Hi

I have an old pc that has Windows 98 installed. I have XP discs from my new pc could they be used to upgrade the old pc from 98 to XP?

:j would be good if they could!

  • Well, why upgrade go for a clean install. I think you would need the upgrade cd and not a full XP version.

    Is the spec good enough for XP ?
    My personal opinion is 500mhz processor and 256mb RAM, and it will be very slow.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    And if you are already using the serial no, it won't work for long

    In order for XP to work without over-driving your legacy hardware you will need at least an 800MHZ Processor, 512MB of RAM and a clean install of XP, you could "find" or "ask" somebody for a new XP key.;)
