what should I do?

I sold a PS2 for my brother in law he had it for some time but rarely played on it and it spent most of its time in its box he gave it to me to sell on ebay it was in very good condition to my knowledge.

The day my buyer recieves it she sends me this message

hi ,i have a problem with play station,no games will load and the only game that will load wont play with controls only part control with remote control.please contact me as i might b doing something wrong.please get back 2 me.thanks.

I send back this
playstation wasnt actually mine but my brother in laws he said it was working fine when he gave it me to sell for him. I have no idea what the extra cables were for which ones are you using I have only ever used the one with the yellow red white connections (the one that was in the bag that looked unused) what are you getting come up on screen anything at all? not really technical minded myself maybe there is dust inside sorry thats all I can think of ifi it is just dust then a lense cleaning disc would do it but I will understand if you just want to send it back for a refund.let me know how you get on

she then says
hi,thanks 4 respondind.now,i tried both of the leeds from console to tv and no difference.i bought 5 games, and 1 nearly loaded and the controls dont seem to work either.i have a brand new hi quality lens cleaner and that didnt make any difference.i will take the play station into the game console shop in town ,if that is alright with u,and see if they know what is wrong with it

this evening I get this
hi there,i have taken the ps2 to the shop and they said both the joypads are broken,i have bought one at the cost of £15,i could not afford to replace the other one, perhaps you could give me some refund as it was advertised as in good condition.thanks

does this seem strange that she is saying that the games would not load and then she says it is a problem with the joypads? surely if games wont load it would be a problem with the console itself not really technical myself so wouldnt have a clue
what should I do just refund? or request the joypads back 1st ?

Yeah if there was a problem with games loading a new joy stick would not solve this.

I wouldnt refund. They might give you a negative but theyre trying to scam you here IMO.

If they paid by paypal and are prepared to go through a chargeback for item siginificantlly not as describes they stand a chance of winning depending on what your auction actually stated.

If you sold it as working then they could win, if it was sold without any statement, implied or otherwise that this machine and all the parts worked, then they will struggle to chargeback.

I would ask her to send you the faulty joypads back along with a report from the game console place then you will decide on a part refund or for her to return full item etc.

I would just refund the £15 and get it off your brother-in-law!

well I offered her a replacement controller (considering she told me she could only afford one and I had a spare) plus a part refund and she said no she just wanted the £15 cant be bothered with the hassle tbh I think she bidded too high and now wants some money back she paid £56 inc post for a 2nd hand ps2 not even the slimline version if you shop around you can buy a new one for not much more so going to cut my losses and give her her £15 even though I do not believe a word of it ok one controller could be broke but both they are 2 different controllers one came with the ps2 and one bought after a genuine sony one but slightly different. So both all of a sudden stopped working at the same time I think not!

Anyway going to give her the money to save my unblemished record until the next time!!
